Art Submission Guidelines
What file formats do you accept?
We accept the following file formats:
- AI (Illustrator)
- EPS
- PSD (Photoshop)
- TIF
- JPG
- INDD (InDesign)
If you’re working in Apple osX please turn on file extensions. All links and fonts should be included and as always, outlining your fonts will eliminate any potential font issues (remember to save a non-outlined version for yourself, in case you need to make changes). We can accept OTF, TTF, and DFONT font files.
If possible, please include a proof of your designs either as a hardcopy printout or as a PDF.
What resolution should I make my designs?
This is a tricky question and there are no hard and fast rules. The biggest reason is viewing distance–the further away from the print your viewer will be, the less resolution you need. Our standard answer is to shoot for 150ppi at final size, which will be plenty for most situations. Below you’ll find a basic distance to resolution chart to use as a guideline. How can I get my files to you?
Email is acceptable for files totaling less than 5mb. For larger sizes, we recommend zipping your files and sending them using a file transfer service. Please send all files to art@getsigns.biz. Alternatively, if your company has a FTP, simply email us the FTP info and the names of the files in question and we will retrieve them. We also accept files the old-fashioned way: on CD, DVD, flash drive, mailed to us or dropped off at our shop at 810 N 8th St, Sheboygan, WI 53081.
Can you match Pantone (PMS) colors?
We print in process color, however we can match most Pantone colors very closely. A good approximation of the result is to check your Pantone Color Bridge Coated swatch book. On many colors we can get even closer thanks to the larger gamut of our printers than traditional offset presses. Please call out PMS colors in your files and in situations where they are absolutely critical (logos and branding elements) call them out during the order as well. Additionally, we can provide color samples on request (a small fee may apply in some cases).
